OUT OF STATE TRIPS
For those of you who are making the out of state trips, you need to know that both Arizona and Nevada require Coggins and health certificates as follows:
Arizona -- Coggins good for 12 months, health certificate good for 30 days
Nevada -- Coggins good for 6 months, health certificate good for 30 days
In addition, it is a good idea to carry proof of ownership in both states. If the examination is timed just right, the health certificate would be valid for both trips for those who want to do both.
Some people are able to travel back and forth across state lines without being stopped. It is risky, however, and your horses could be confiscated if you are caught without the appropriate documentation. We know of at least one member who traveled to Nevada last year and was stopped. The out of state California plates may have triggered the inspection. It is a personal choice, but I strongly urge compliance and secure the required papers.
